Countdown to College Football Kickoff 2015: Day 42, How Many Bowls Can You Watch?

The 2015 college football kickoff just 42 days away, which just also happens to be the record number of bowl games that will be played this season.

Bowl game season has always been one of the most exciting parts of the year for college football fans, but has the idea of going to a bowl been watered down by the sheer number of bowls as well as the impact of the BCS and now the College Football Playoff?

In 2015-16, a record number 42 bowl games will be played, which means 84 different college football teams will get a bowl bid out of the 128 FBS teams. For those who are not math majors, that means roughly 65 percent of all teams will get to play in a postseason bowl game.

Those odds are almost as good as making the NBA playoffs.

Despite declining attendance at both major and smaller bowl games, as well as waning interest for television viewers, the NCAA keeps agreeing to create these new, essentially meaningless games.

Cities are looking for one more draw during the holiday season, and sponsors are looking for one more place to slap their logo and have announcers spew their tag lines and pitches. Its almost as if football is secondary.

Did I say almost?

So from Dec. 19 to Jan. 11th, you can have your choice of bowl games to watch, starting with the AutoNation Cure Bowl coming from Orlando, Fl. and ending up with the College Football Playoff National Championship game, being hosted in Phoenix, Az. this season.
