Independents – Notre Dame Fighting Irish

There are only three independent teams left anymore, but even if there were 300, the Notre Dame fan base would still blow them all away for misconceptions of how good their team was.

  • With the exception of 2012, Brian Kelly‘s teams have had a common thread…losing to schools to which they have no business losing. In 2011 it was the opening week loss to South Florida, in 2013 it was Pittsburgh and Michigan, and 2014’s unexplainable losses came to Louisville and Northwestern…all teams the Irish should have handily beaten.

Is it proof that maybe Notre Dame isn’t as good as fans prop them up to be, and that they obtain their national status (and rankings) based on a name?

    Probably so.

With Texas, Georgia Tech, Clemson, USC and Stanford on the 2015 schedule it’s probably a good idea for Irish fans to do a little less talking and a lot more praying to Touchdown Jesus.
