LSU head coach Les Miles admitted on Monday that he coveted Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller.
Where Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Braxton Miller would play his final season of college football was one of the offseason’s top storylines considering the team’s loaded depth chart and his option to transfer and play immediately.

Miller had his name bandied about in transfer rumors with no shortage of quarterback-needy teams across the country, including at high-profile programs like Florida State, Alabama and LSU who had a need for a player like Miller.
The two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year is not guaranteed of starting this year for Ohio State but one place he would have had a guaranteed spot was at LSU where Tigers head coach Les Miles admitted on Monday that he coveted Miller and wish he had him at LSU.

Miller decided against transferring and will compete for the Ohio State job along with J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones. Had he transferred to LSU, he would be competing with Anthony Jennings, who completed fewer than half his passes last year and is currently suspended after an offseason arrest, and Brandon Harris who looked overwhelmed in his limited time last year.
Miles likened Miller’s state to that of Russell Wilson who transferred from NC State to Wisconsin to play his fifth year and led the Badgers to the Rose Bowl.

Normally, in these situations when a team doesn’t get a player they wanted, you hear the coach say he’s confident with his current group of players and they never strongly considered adding anyone else. Then again, Miles isn’t your ordinary coach who is going to give a canned response.
Nevertheless, you can’t feel too great if you’re Jennings or Harris after your coach said on ESPN that he would have loved to have a chance to get Miller. Will that serve as a wake-up call for either of the two or crush what’s left of their confidence?
