Green is the No. 207 player in the ’17 class, the No. 32 wide receiver, and the No. 29 overall player in the Sunshine State per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Defensive line coach Chris Rumph handled Green’s recruitment.
He was offered by 18 different schools, choosing to play in Gainesville over a variety of other offers. He certainly explored his options, visiting the South Florida Bulls on June 1 and attending a Michigan Wolverines satellite camp on June 6. On the Florida front, he received an offer from the Gators on May 4, before committing earlier Friday evening.
With this commitment, the program is putting together a nice ’17 class. They already received a commitment from four-star quarterback Jake Allen on July 1, and now they have a weapon for him to throw to. Currently, the Gators have the No. 6 class in the country, and the No. 2 class in the SEC per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
Green said that the facilities and coaching staff were just some of the reasons he chose to commit early.
“The campus and the facilities are real nice,” Green told 247Sports’ Luke Stampini. “I really liked everything they showed me when they took me around. I just like hanging out with the coaches a lot.”
Florida is getting a quick-footed receiver who can run routes with precision. His ability to stop and turn on a dime keeps defenders off-balance and makes what otherwise would be tough throws a little easier on the quarterback.
It is never too early to start looking towards the future, and the Gators did so in a big way Friday evening.
