The Ohio State Buckeyes landed a commitment from four-star safety Isaiah Pryor Monday to extend their lead as the top class for 2017.
The rich kept getting richer Monday as 2017 four-star safety Isaiah Pryor (Lawrenceville, GA. Archer) committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes per Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

Pryor is the No. 38 player in the ’17 class, the No. 2 safety, and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He was recruited by cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs, who served as the primary recruiter, and Chris Ash, who doubles as the co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach. He notched eight total offers, but told Wiltfong that he had known he wanted to be a Buckeye “for a couple of months.”
On the Buckeye front, he attended a camp on June 13 before officially announcing his commitment Monday.
With this commitment, the Ohio State 2017 class continues to be the best in the country. Standing 10 commitments strong and with eight four-star commitments, that is good enough for No. 1 nationally per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
For Pryor the decision to start his collegiate career at Ohio State was a no-brainer.
“I’ve known them for a long time, building a lot of relationships with the coaches, and being up there so many times I have a good feel for the campus.”
He is a coverage safety who is very good at reading the quarterback’s eyes. Once the ball is snapped, you can see him look at the quarterback and follow his eyes to put himself in a better position to make a play. Having a coverage safety like that will strengthen the Buckeye secondary and force opponents to have to throw to the cornerbacks and not get anything easy down the middle of the field.
As college coaches have shown us this week with 2017 commitments, it is not only important to prepare for the upcoming season, but for the future as well. The Buckeyes have done that to this point, and are putting themselves in a tremendous position to succeed down the road.
