Who: 5-Star DT Rashan Gary

  • Hometown/High School: Paramus, N.J. /Paramus Catholic
  • Rankings: No. 1 overall, No. 1 DT

He is perhaps the most sought-after player in the class. Amassing 30 offers in total, every coach wants a chance to coach Rashan Gary. Explosive off the line, he has tremendous reaching ability and his rip and spin moves to free himself from his man are overpowering. Once he is free, he uses his agility to find the ball carrier and make the tackle. Gary wraps up his man and does so forcefully, not allowing the runner to break the tackle.

I predict that Gary will join Jim Harbaugh and go to Ann Arbor to become a Wolverine. He would be the perfect recruit to headline a 2016 class that is teeming with promise and loaded with talent. He has the potential to serve as the anchor of the defense and his style of play in particular could make him a tremendous leader on the field.

Currently, the Wolverine ’16 troop ranks No. 9 nationally and No. 3 in the Big 10 per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. A commitment from Gary would push the Wolverines to the top of the Big 10 and undoubtedly put them in the conversation for national title contention,

However, he does have 29 other offers to choose from, and although not likely there is a chance he could go somewhere other than Ann Arbor. However, I do not expect him to veer off course and think that he will end up a Wolverine, helping usher in a new chapter in the rich history of Michigan football.
