Everett Golson takes shot at Paul Finebaum over his criticism of Florida State

Florida State quarterback Everett Golson didn’t think Paul Finebaum’s assessment of his game and the Seminoles was accurate and fired back at the ESPN radio host’s criticism.

Paul Finebaum has never been shy about expressing his opinion and that’s one reason why he’s been as successful as a radio host as he’s been in his career. His latest quip, however, is sure to ruffle the feathers in Tallahassee after he said the Florida State Seminoles have no business being ranked in the top 10 in the preseason polls.

The Seminoles came in at No. 8 in the Amway Coaches Poll and Finebaum thinks they’re going to lose at Clemson and are trending down after losing former Heisman winner and national champion quarterback Jameis Winston to the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.

That’s not an uncommon opinion, and was shared by us when we wrote Florida State is the most overrated team in the Coaches Poll after the top 25 was released last week, but new Seminoles quarterback Everett Golson isn’t happy about it.

Golson is competing with Sean Maguire for the starting quarterback job after transferring from Notre Dame and after Finebaum also said he hasn’t been impressed with him since his redshirt freshman season in 2012, Golson took to Twitter to say he’ll use it as motivation.

We’ve heard of bulletin board material coming from the opposition, but bulletin board material from a radio host on the SEC Network is a new one to me.

We’ll see how hot this lit fire burns for Golson and if he’ll be able to beat Maguire for the starting job and keep Florida State’s run at the top of the ACC for a fourth straight year.
