Can the Boston College Eagles continue to improve under head coach Steve Addazio and turn some heads in the ACC this year? Here are their five most important games in their pursuit of ACC glory.

With the season almost underway, travel to Chestnut Hill home of the Boston College Eagles. Led by a slew of young talent and hungry to move up the ranks of the ACC, the Eagles come into the campaign on a mission.

More from ACC

After going 7-6 overall, a mark that included a 3-3 record in Atlantic Division play and a  1-2 mark against Top 15 teams, the Eagles look to change their fortunes and escape from the middle of the ACC. They will be led offensively by Jonathan Hilliman, who made a huge impact as a freshman last season, rushing for 860 yards and 13 touchdowns. In an offense that is run-heavy, he will look to shoulder the load left to him partly due to the departure of dual-threat quarterback Tyler Murphy.

Also worth noting is the influx of young talent coming Boston College’s way via recruiting. Chris Lindstrom (Dudley, MA. Shepherd Hill), Aaron Monterey (Brockton, MA. Brockton), and Anthony Palazzolo (Fairfield, CT. Fairfield College Preparatory) come into The Heights with a mission to anchor the offensive line. They will be needed as the Eagles look to continue what has been a successful rushing attack.

On the Eagles’ schedule are ACC opponents, who have been to big games and won big games, and whom Boston College will need to beat if they want to show the rest of the country that they belong with the elite of the ACC. Getting over the hump is crucial for not only the players, but for head coach Steve Addazio, who enters year three looking to get over the seven-win mark.

Although due to the nature of BC’s schedule that may seem like a daunting task, it is a challenge he is up for. With his trademark boundless energy and his passion for the game he loves facing challenges head-on.

We take a look at five Eagle games that are must-see television, and break down the history between the Eagles and their opponents.
