Samford DL Michael Pierce squats 725 pounds (Video)

One Samford football player has been spending an awful lot of time in the weight room and showed off his impressive strength with a squat of more than 700 pounds.

I think we have a new candidate for the World’s Strongest Man.

Samford doesn’t get a lot of attention from the national media but when news like this breaks, the national media stops in their tracks and takes notice.

Michael Pierce showed us just how important it is to have a strong base as a football player, especially a defensive lineman, so when he stood in the squad rack with 725 pounds on his back, the nation had their collective jaw drop when he went down and up with relative ease.

Don’t believe me? Just watch in the video posted below to Pierce’s Instagram account.

Pierce hasn’t been skipping any leg days.

I’ll let you collect your thoughts after witnessing that much weight being moved by one human being.

Pierce is more than just a strongman too as he has translated his weight room strength to functional strength on the football field and was an All-SoCon selection last year after making 35 tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack.

And he was recently named the Southern Conference’s preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

The 6-0, 309-pound defensive lineman began his college football career at Tulane but transferred to Samford after two years with the Green Wave.

So, how much do you squat? Chances are it’s a fraction of what Pierce just did and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s up near 800 pounds in the coming months with how easy he made that lift look.
