Last year, several players stood out as freshmen as depth was tested at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish had the best recruiting classes among independents in 2015, and a number freshmen should make a big impact on the team this year.

Notre Dame’s 2014 recruiting class ranked No. 11 in the nation according to ESPN, and 2015 was 13th, but it has some unique aspects.

In the fresh 2015 class, Notre Dame scored several players who ranked among the best in the country at their respective positions and should make an immediate impact. Other players are very talented and whether they made the list or not, should have bright careers ahead, they just need a little more seasoning before they’re ready to make their mark on the college football landscape.

The Fighting Irish have national championship aspirations and the play of some first-year players could be the difference in Notre Dame meeting those goals or whether they’ll be tagged with the dreaded “overrated” label once again after falling short.

Luckily for Notre Dame they have a surplus of freshmen ready to make a splash in their first year on campus.
