247Sports rated Yoon as a three-star and the second best kicker in the nation coming in. He is listed as the starter at kicker to replace Kyle Brindza (now with the Detroit Lions). Tyler Newsome is right behind Yoon on the depth chart.

Kickers are undervalued pieces of a team, and Yoon earned his preseason spot here in the top five. If he delivers as anticipated, Notre Dame fans won’t have to worry about the kicking game for years. Look for Yoon to be faced with several pressure-packed situations this year as his leg could be the difference in the Fighting Irish earning a berth in the College Football Playoff.

Justin Yoon

Kicker, Notre Dame

Notre Dame got a very good kicker in Yoon (5-11, 185) and he should be the go to guy from game one on. Yoon is from Tennessee but attends school in Massachusetts, and made a case to be among the top rated incoming kickers in the nation this year. He has both great accuracy and great leg strength. Mike Farrell, National Recruiting Director for Rivals.com, said he has the “best foot in the country.”
