He was suspended from both the team and university in April after her was named a suspect in a sexual assault investigation. With that being said, the Knox County District Attorney General’s office announced on Wednesday that Pearson would not face charges in connection with the alleged rape.
“After a thorough review of the investigation, I have determined that there is insufficient evidence to sustain a criminal prosecution against Von Pearson,” Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen said in a statement released Wednesday.
Pearson was a big part of the Volunteer offense as he was the team’s second-leading receiver with 38 receptions for 393 yards and had a team-high five touchdowns. His best game came in the TaxSlayer Bowl against Iowa as he caught seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.
The return of Pearson should give the program a big boost as they look to improve on last year’s No. 65 passing offense.
