Braxton Miller gets new uniform number at Ohio State
Braxton Miller is playing a new position this year for the Ohio State Buckeyes and he’ll have a new number too.
Today is the first day of camp for the reigning national champions Ohio State Buckeyes. The first day always brings some interesting news ans today was no different. According to a tweet from ESPN writer Austin Ward Braxton Miller has changed his jersey from No. 5 to No. 1.
Miller decided it was time to switch from quarterback to wide receiver, also decided it was time to switch jersey numbers. Miller who is a two-time Big Ten player of the year and Heisman Trophy finalist is trying to get a fresh start. Miller wore No. 5 since he was in his earliest years of playing football, but now he’s ushering in a new era.

Redshirt freshman Johnnie Dixon who wore No. 1 last year and agreed to switch numbers with Miller (I wonder if there was a fee?) Dixon will now wear No. 5 for Ohio State. Technically, they both could wear number five but then they couldn’t be on the field at the same time and OSU wants both players out there this year.
This also goes to help with jersey sales as well, as OSU has announced it will no longer be selling jerseys associated with particular players. Instead they will sell two jersey numbers a year. The No. 1 jersey will be sold each year and the other number will be the number of the year we are in. So this year a No. 15 jersey is for sale. Which means you can buy a Miller and an Ezekiel Elliott jersey this year.
Even if OSU doesn’t want to associate the jersey numbers to particular players they made a shrewd move to get both jerseys of popular players in 2015.
