Smith is the No. 171 player in the 2017 class, the No. 17 running back, and the No. 8 player in the state of Louisiana per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Receiving four offers in total, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Ole Miss all extended offers. He did attend camps for Alabama and LSU, but the Bulldogs ultimately were the best fit. He was recruited by Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt and wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon.

One of the deciding factors for Smith in his commitment was the family environment of the program.

“I love Georgia, they have family environment,” Smith told Kipp Adams of 247Sports. “I have a bond with the coaching staff and I really like the academics!”

With this commitment, the ‘Dawgs now have three players in the 2017 class. All of them of the four-star variety, the class also boasts another athlete in Deejay Dallas (Brunswick, GA. Glynn Academy.) The class ranks No. 10 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Smith has great hands and tremendous speed. Even in coverage he has a tremendous knack for being able to get underneath the coverage and make a play. One of the things to keep an eye out for is how the ‘Dawgs will use him and Dallas and if they are on the field together. Both he and Dallas have tremendous raw athletic ability and their multi-faceted skill sets are assets.

2017 classes are beginning to take shape and for Georgia, having three weapons in the class already could signify promising things to come.
