Speaking of programs that consistently exceed expectations, despite a horde of naysayers Missouri has scratched and clawed its way to back-to-back SEC East titles. It’s hard to imagine the Tigers doing it again in 2015, but by now they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Missouri sputtered on offense last season. The Tigers ranked No. 12 in the SEC in scoring (27.8 points per game) and No. 13 in total offense (367 yards per game), but should improve those numbers this year. Quarterback Maty Mauk is a breakthrough candidate after a strong finish in 2014, but he’ll have a brand new set of receivers as the Tigers lose their top five pass catchers from last year’s squad.

There are plenty of questions for the Tigers on defense – especially with the loss of elite pass rushers Shane Ray and Markus Golden and defensive coordinator Dave Steckel – but don’t underestimate new DC Barry Odom.

As for the schedule, Mizzou should go 4-0 in non-conference games and the Tigers have a favorable SEC West crossover matchup with Mississippi State. With a win over Vanderbilt and a split the rest of the way, another double-digit winning season is possible.
