Jeremy Johnson is coming into his third season with Auburn, and so far he’s got 78 pass attempts to his name. The way Auburn plays offense he may double that total if he starts all season in 2015.

Why Johnson won’t win it:

The Tigers are very high on Johnson, but we are talking about a Gus Malzahn offense here. They run, and run, and run…and just when you think they can’t run anymore, they give it to a tight end or linebacker to run it. Playing quarterback for Malzahn is a lot like playing for Georgia Tech’s Paul Johnson. Just run it son…only throw it if you absolutely have to.

We haven’t seen if Johnson has the legs to be successful in Malzahn’s scheme yet, with only 4 rushing attempts for minus seven yards. He’s going to have to really dazzle with his feet if he wants Heisman voters to notice him.

His first year starting after the departure of Nick Marshall may be a rough one. Auburn is the sexy pick to win the SEC West right now, but it will be more of a team effort than a reliance on Jeremy Johnson.
