Lugg is the No. 171 player in his class, the No. 27 offensive tackle, and the No. 6 player in the state of Pennsylvania per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Notching 14 offers in total, he was recruited to the Irish by running game coordinator and offensive line coach Harry Hiestand as well as assistant coach Scott Booker, who served the role of secondary recruiter.

"I am proud to announce that I have committed to the University of Notre Dame!"

On the Irish front, he attended a school camp in South Bend on June 20 and was offered on June 25. He visited the campus again on July 23 before committing Friday evening. He will make another trip in the fall when Notre Dame opens up at home against Texas on September 5.

With this commitment, the 2017 class now has three commits with tight end Brock Wright (Cypress, TX. Cy-Fair) being the other four-star commit.  This class, which ranks No. 11 nationally and No. 1 among independents per the 247Sports Team Rankings is looking like it will be a strong one for head coach Brian Kelly and his staff.

Lugg has the ability to disrupt the defense and he does a nice job of pushing back his man and creating a hole for the ball carrier. His blocking skills will benefit the Irish as they rely heavily on the run game. He will be able to create holes and allow for the backs to have plenty of running room.

The 2015 season is almost underway, and although the players have had a short break in-between seasons. the recruiting season has not stopped.
