What makes it great: The home of the Oregon Ducks, Autzen Stadium is one of the smallest stadiums that appear on this list. It was built so that it would capture and magnify the noise of the crowd. The field is sunken, and much like Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the stands are built steeply which places the fans very close to the action on the field.

Many players and media members have noted the overwhelming crowd noise, including ESPN College Game Day’s Lee Corso who has called Autzen Stadium the loudest stadium he has been in.

Autzen has sold out 101 straight games, dating back to 1999, and the Ducks have taken advantage of this fearsome home field edge to become one of the strongest college football programs over that period.

Greatest game played: Oregon’s rivalry with the Oregon State Beavers is one of the oldest in the sport, with 117 matchups dating back to 1894. The Ducks lead the all-time series 61-46-10, and while not every meeting has had grand national implications, each battle in “The Civil War” has been hard fought.

In 2009, there were big things riding on their annual clash. Oregon was 9-2 and Oregon State was 8-3 coming into the game, and the winner would have gone on to play in the Rose Bowl. The Ducks hadn’t been to the Rose Bowl since 1995, while the Beavers hadn’t had a postseason game in Pasadena since 1964. Never before had the stakes been so high in this rivalry, and Oregon went on to win by a score of 37-33 thanks to 166 yards from running back LeGarrette Blount.
