15. Williams-Brice Stadium

Columbia, South Carolina

Capacity: 80,250

Record attendance: 85,199, on October 6, 2012, in a 35-7 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs.

What makes it great: The home of the South Carolina Gamecocks, Williams-Brice Stadium boasts the same fierce, loud home field advantage that SEC stadiums are known for. In 1983, a new upper deck was constructed in the stadium, and due to its design it was noticeably swaying during games when the crowd would get rowdy. Then-head coach Joe Morrison stated, “If it ain’t swayin’, we ain’t playin,” and a catch-phrase was born.

Greatest game played: On October 10, 2010, SEC rival Alabama came to Columbia. Alabama was the defending national champions and had won 19 straight games coming into this matchup. Unexpectedly, and surely thanks in no small part to the Gamecocks’ home field advantage, South Carolina stunned the Crimson Tide and the college football world at large by pulling off a 35-21 win.
