13. Tiger Stadium

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Capacity: 102,321

Record attendance: 102,321, twice, most recently against Ole Miss.

What makes it great: The atmosphere is ferocious. Tiger Stadium has earned the nickname of “Death Valley” thanks to the fearsome home field advantage it is known for. Also thanks to Tiger Stadium’s size, when it is filled to capacity its population would count as the fifth largest city in Louisiana.

Greatest game played: After coach Nick Saban won a national championship with LSU in 2003, he bolted to the greener pastures of the NFL in 2004. His time in the pros was a fairly brief one, and he left the Miami Dolphins to return to the college game and joined the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2007.

Saban made his return to Death Valley in 2008, when he led his undefeated and top-ranked Crimson Tide against the 15th ranked Tigers. Alabama was 10-0 at the time and had only trailed for 1:15 all season to that point but fell behind 14-7 early and needed overtime to escape Tiger Stadium with a hard-fought 27-21 victory.
