Evans will be looked to contribute much more this season now with Williams out for the season. Bielema has been very pleased with his progression this offseason and has even went as far to say that he “is playing as well as he ever has.”

Evans was apart of the 2013 recruiting class that included Collins and Korliss Marshall back in 2013. The three-star Bellaire, Texas running back was recruited by former running backs coach Joel Thomas and former offensive coordinator Jim Chaney.

As you can see from the video below Evans doesn’t have the same flare the other backs do on the roster but he’ll make for a good option if one of the previously mentioned guys needs a breather.

Before the news of Juan Day’s injury and Marshall’s transfer from the program broke many thought Evans might not ever get a shot at the third spot behind Collins. In fact, if coach Bielema would have had his way Day would have been used last season but the cupboard was already pretty deep with talent at the time so he kept the redshirt on.

Evans, however, hasn’t lived up to expectations as of yet and this season could be his opportunity to make his mark as a Razorback. That said, if Day can make a full recovery by the start of school as expected then Evans could find himself in a three-way battle for the third spot against Day and Williams.

It’s highly unlikely Day walks out on the field and makes an impact right away so Evans will have some breathing room battling Williams for the third spot.
