Williams was injured in Saturday’s scrimmage and on Sunday was revealed he would miss an ‘extended period of time’ so now we know how extended the absence will be from the Hogs starting lineup that has to replace his 1,190 yards and 12 touchdowns from a year ago.

He bypassed the 2015 NFL Draft to return to Arkansas for his senior year so this is a devastating blow for him on a personal level more than it is for Arkansas because if there was one team in the nation that could absorb a loss at running back, it’s the Razorbacks.

Junior Alex Collins finished a close second to Williams for the team lead with 1,100 yards, 90 shy of Williams, but tied him for the team-lead with 12 rushing scores. With Williams out for the entire season, Collins will have the spotlight on him in the featured role.

He will still share carries with fullback Kody Walker who was the star of the spring game and true freshman Rawleigh Williams, but this will be the “Alex Collins Show” in Fayetteville with the former top recruit capable of rushing for 1,500-plus yards ad 15 touchdowns behind what’s arguably the best offensive line in the SEC.
