With 11 days until kickoff, we’ll take a day to recognize and remember the brilliant career of  Boise State’s number 11, Kellen Moore. The Bronco’s quarterback from 2008-2011 still holds the all time record for wins, with a 50-3 record.

Underrated and undervalued, Kellen Moore was simply a winner and a true class-act. His consistent poise and leadership led the Broncos to two undefeated regular seasons.

As a redshirt freshman in 2008, Boise State scored 37 points at Oregon with his commanding of the offense. The one loss of the season came in the bowl game against TCU 17-16. In 2009 the Broncos defeated TCU 17-10 in the Fiesta Bowl to remain undefeated. Boise State has won all three of its Fiesta Bowl Game appearances.

As a junior, Kellen Moore was a Heisman candidate. His campaign began against Virginia Tech, where he threw the game winning touchdown in the last moments of the game. Moore would continue to play well all season, but the team fell at Nevada 33-30 in overtime at the end of the regular season. Moore finished fourth in the Heisman running.

As a senior Moore unleashed an impressive passing attack against Georgia in Atlanta, and Boise State won 35-21. The Broncos would continue with a tremendous undefeated season until falling at home to TCU by one point (36-35).

All three of Moore’s losses were a combined total of five points! Moore played pretty well and threw just one interception in those defeats (2008 vs TCU).

Kellen Moore is currently in the NFL competing with Dan Orlovsky for the backup quarterback position on the Detroit Lions.
