Urban Meyer hands out Skittles, juice boxes to players after practice (Video)

When Urban Meyer isn’t focused on winning a second straight national championship, he’s focused on proper nutrition.

Training camps are underway in the NFL, college football and high school as players and coaches are gearing up for the upcoming seasons while battling the elements of a scorching hot sun and sweltering humidity.

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer knows all about the rigors of training camp as a former player and a veteran coach so he knows the rigors these players are being put through to get ready for the season ahead.

In a move that solidifies Meyer as the ultimate player’s coach, he gave “snack packs” to his team after practice on Tuesday that harkens back to the days of youth football when you’d get orange slices to beat the heat.

Check out the video that was shared by Meyer on his personal Twitter account as he dishes out the snack pack that featured carrots (boo), Skittles (Marshawn Lynch approves) and a juice box to wash it all down and stay hydrated to avoid any painful cramps.

The offseason can be a brutal time for news coverage with watch lists and preseason rankings but this moves right to the top of the list for my favorite offseason story of the year.

The regular season can’t get here soon enough and with Sept 5 slowly creeping closer, I may have to get a snack pack myself to avoid getting dehydrated.
