5. Air Force – Nov. 20
Air Force was the first opponent that projected starting quarterback Ryan Finley played against. He came in as a backup in the fourth quarter, down 20-0. Finley threw two touchdown passes and ended the shut-out. Air Force won 28-14 and was one of Boise State’s two losses (Ole Miss being the other).
The game against Air Force will be in Boise this year, and the Broncos won’t be looking past the Falcons. Regardless of how either team’s seasons are going, the Broncos will be eager to defeat the Falcons.
Air Force returns seven players on offense, including quarterback Kale Pearson who ran for 127 yards vs Boise State last year, averaging 6.4 yards per carry. The offense should once again be a strength for Air Force in this game.
On defense, Air Force will probably digress a ways, as they return just four starters. They do return defensive back Weston Steelhammer, who snatched three interceptions last year against Boise State.
Like 2014, Air Force will almost definitely need to force some turnovers to have a chance in 2015 at Boise. If Air Force can disrupt the offense again and move the ball effectively, they can defeat the Broncos again.
Air Force should be able to score several times, but I don’t see them disrupting the opposing offense as much in this game. Whoever starts at quarterback will have plenty of games to get seasoned before Air Force visits The Blue Field. I see Boise State winning by 10 points.
