Pac-12 Football: Marcus Mariota and the top 10 players of the century
By Rick Timmons
In three different seasons, Leinart passed for at least 3,000 yards, something only three players in conference history had ever done. After passing for 332 yards and five touchdowns without an interception in the Orange Bowl in the BCS National Championship Game, Leinart had cemented his legacy as an all-time great.
Certainly one of the best quarterbacks in conference history, many would consider Leinart one of the best quarterbacks to ever play college football. Leinart didn’t do it without support, however, as he had Bush and Pete Carroll by his side.

Matt Leinart
QB, 2003-05
Matt Leinart has an undeniable résumé. After playing in three straight national championships (of which he won two), how could you deny him a spot on this list?
The 2004 Heisman winner and AP Player of The Year was also the recipient of the Manning, Walter Camp, and Unitas awards. He had an outstanding 3,815 yards to go along with 28 touchdowns and only eight picks. In his career, he passed for 99 touchdowns (a record at the time) and only 23 interceptions — an outstanding ratio even ignoring the sheer quantity of touchdowns.
