A jury found Florida State running back Dalvin Cook not guilty for misdemeanor battery

The trial for suspended Florida State Seminoles running back Dalvin Cook began and ended on Monday with the jury finding Cook not guilty of misdemeanor battery.

The case stems from accusations from this summer when Cook allegedly hit a female outside a Tallahassee bar.

Cook was suspended pending the outcome of his legal matter so you can expect him to be at Florida State practice tomorrow after head coach Jimbo Fisher reinstates him to the program.

Testimony reportedly lasted for eight hours while the jury composed of Florida State fans needed less than a half hour to reach their verdict. You can count Fox Sports’ Clay Travis among those who aren’t shocked by the outcome in this trial.

Cook was the nation’s No. 2 ranked running back recruit in the nation as a high school senior before rushing for a team-best 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns as a true freshman.

Had Cook been found guilty of striking a woman, Fisher would have had no choice but to dismiss his talented sophomore running back, just as he did earlier this offseason after freshman quarterback DeAndre Johnson was dismissed after video surfaced of him punching a woman at a Tallahassee bar.

With Johnson and Cook involved in their incidents, Fisher was prompted to ban all Seminoles from going to bars as he tried to establish some sort of order and prevent any other ugly incidents that would cast a black eye on the program.

Florida State can now begin their quest for a fourth straight ACC championship and try to gain a berth in the College Football Playoff with their best offensive player.
