Miami Hurricanes gain further commitment from linebacker Zach McCloud who signed him to a grant-in-aid agreement in Miami’s stacked 2016 class

The Miami Hurricanes took another step in their recruiting process for 2016 on Monday, as the school announced that they have signed senior linebacker Zach McCloud to a grant-in-aid agreement.

The 6’2″, 220-pound outside linebacker is highly touted. He’s a four-star recruit and the nation’s No. 296 overall recruit and the No. 21 outside linebacker, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

McCloud is entering his senior year at Santaluces Community High School in Lake Worth, Florida. His junior season saw him stack up an impressive 119 tackles and nine forced fumbles. Heverbally committed to the ‘Canes in November of last year, expressing his strong affection for the U.

McCloud sign the grant-in-aid agreement acts as a non-binding reaffirmation of the school’s dedication and scholarship offer to him, the Hurricanes add some security to his commitment. It’s a tactic the ‘Canes have implemented multiple times for this recruiting class, with McCloud being the fourth Miami commit to sign a grant-in-aid for 2016.

This confirmation of another commit coming to Miami further solidifies their recruiting effort for a class that is shaping up to be one of the best in the nation. Currently, the class ranks tenth in the nation and second in the ACC, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.

McCloud is one of nine four-star commits in Miami’s class, and one of seven to be ranked in the top 25 nationally at their respective positions. Come 2016, expect the effort to culminate in a formidable young squad for Al Golden and the ‘Canes.
