UCLA Bruins phenom QB Josh Rosen throws first career TD (Video)

UCLA true freshman Josh Rosen threw the first career touchdown pass and he doesn’t look to let up against the Virginia Cavaliers in his debut.

Before he even set food on UCLA’s campus as a member of the Bruins football team, Josh Rosen was expected to do great things. Ranked as the nation’s No. 1 pro-style quarterback, a five-star prospect with all the tools in the world to be a potential Heisman winner and No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, Rosen still had to win the starting job.

After a training camp battle with Jerry Neuheisel that turned into a highly publicized one after UCLA head coach Jim Mora had lashed out at the freshman phenom in practice and made sure the media knew he was chastising his prized recruit.

Maybe it was tough love. Maybe it was Mora just being Mora, but Rosen won the job and barring injury will be UCLA’s starting quarterback until he leaves for the NFL Draft.

He didn’t waste much time to make an impact in his debut against Virginia with a four-yard touchdown strike to Devin Fuller for the Bruins’ first score of the year and Rosen’s first of what promises to be many touchdown passes.

Rosen is going to be a special talent for UCLA and I wouldn’t put it past him to guide the Bruins through the ultra-competitive Pac-12 South division and compete for the conference championship and a potential berth in the College Football Playoff.

Such lofty praise is uncommon for true freshmen, especially quarterbacks, but there’s nothing uncommon about Rosen whose second touchdown pass was a thing of beauty.
