Ezekiel Elliott scores 80-yard TD on first carry (Video)

Ezekiel Elliott is picking up where he left off last year and is running like people are chasing him.

Cardale Jones started at quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes over JT Barrett and he kept the ball in his hands on the first drive that running back and Heisman candidate Ezekiel Elliott didn’t receive one carry on the opening scoring drive.

Elliott did have a short reception out of the backfield to convert a 4th-and-5 but he had to wait until the second possession to get his first carry of the year. And boy was it a productive one. Elliott took the handoff and went 80 yards to the house and was barely even touched en route to the end zone.

Ohio State took a 14-0 lead over the Hokies and at this point my pregame prediction of 49-17 is looking pretty likely and a few more touches from Elliott and this one could be over at halftime.

The big question remaining in this game isn’t whether Ohio State wins, but how much JT Barrett plays after Jones started in the most anticipated and publicized quarterback competition in the nation this offseason.
