The 2014 season was a turning point for the Temple Owls and after defeating Penn State in the opener, will Temple catch anyone else by surprise?

Temple snapped their losing streak to Penn State , winning for the first time in 74 years with a dominating defensive performance that made life miserable for Christian Hackenberg and the Nittany Lions.

The victory and made the rest of the college football world take notice on Saturday. The Owls’ defense is going to be something that the rest of the American Athletic Conference will have to find a way to contend with.

The schedule makers did not do any favors for Rhule and the Owls who travel to Cincinnati to take on another AAC favorite in the Bearcats. Hackenberg found out just how dangerous the Owls’ defense could be after they picked up 10 sacks in the opener.

Temple faces another powerful offense when it comes to the Bearcats and quarterback Gunner Kiel who was efficient against Alabama A&M, passing for 233 yards and two touchdowns in a 52-10 rout. Wide receiver Shaq Washington will be a player that the Temple defense will have to keep tabs on or he could torch them. The Temple-Cincinnati game could setup one team for an AAC East division title.

Temple still have to contend with Central Florida and Notre Dame appears on the schedule later in October. The Owls have the talent to reach their first bowl game since 2011. Avoiding injury is what Rhule and the Owls need to worry about.

If Temple can win the games they are supposed to and possibly pull off the upset against Cincinnati this week, then the Owls have the chance to make some real noise in college football.

Let me hear from you Temple fans. What are your expectations for the remainder of the season?
