Will Oregon State make life even tougher for Jim Harbaugh, Michigan?

Oregon State coach Gary Andersen knew that his team was going to go through a bit of a rebuilding mode once he arrived in Corvallis. Will Oregon State make life tougher for Michigan?

Neither Michigan nor Oregon State looked all that impressive during the first week of the season. The troubling thing about the Oregon State-Weber State game from last week is that the offense never really seemed to click.

Quarterback Seth Collins is a freshmen quarterback that started to show some promise toward the end of the Weber State game, but the challenge is more difficult this week for Oregon State.

More from Michigan Wolverines

Going into the Big House to play Michigan is going to be a tough test. It will be Jim Harbaugh’s home opener and Michigan will be looking to play better after losing their opener at Utah. The Michigan defense appears to be in mid-season form, however, after limiting Utah running back Devontae Booker to 69 yards on 22 carries.

Michigan will be geared to stopping the Oregon State running game. The Beavers are going to need Collins and Storm Woods to continue to run the ball effectively. Michigan will attempt to force the Beavers to pass the ball. Oregon State had trouble passing the ball against Weber State and becoming one-dimensional could be dangerous against the Wolverines.

Both the Michigan and Oregon State offenses seem to be works in progress. Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock threw three interceptions against Utah and Michigan fans would like to see tight end Jake Butt become a bigger target in the passing game.

Avoiding turnovers will be key for Michigan if they are to defeat Oregon State. This game has an ugly feel to it, simply because neither offense seems to be clicking. The defenses could really dictate the flow of the game.
