Can Chuckie Keeton, Utah State pull off upset against Utah?
By Tommy Tabler
The Utah State Aggies have come a long way in the past five years. After racking up a 10-win season last year, can Wells, Utah State take down the Utes?
Coach Matt Wells and the Utah State Aggies have been a successful team the past few seasons. The Aggies seem to always circle the dates when they play BYU and Utah. The Aggies will travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utes this Friday. Utah State players and coaches know that this game could propel the Aggies toward another 10 win season, but a loss could cause the Aggies to take a step back.

Utah State did not look impressive against Southern Utah last Thursday night. The offense struggled against Southern Utah. Quarterback Chuckie Keeton did not have a good day throwing the football. Keeton passed for only 110 yards and 1 interception. According to Jeff Hunter, “USU’s offensive line also had a rough night against Southern Utah.” Those are areas that the Aggies must improve or the Utes could make life rough on Utah State.
The Utah Utes defense caused the Michigan Wolverines offense to look inconsistent and a bit inept. The Utes defense forced Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock into throwing 3 interceptions last week. Keeton will have to limit mistakes to avoid the same fate as Michigan. Utah State fans should expect to see a more disciplined offense on Friday night.
Utah has areas on the offensive side of the ball that they must work on, or this could be an ugly offensive game. The Utes are going to have to worry about the Aggies’ defense. The Aggies’ defense only gave up 163 yards to Southern Utah last week. Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham is wanting to see improvement with the rushing attack.
Utah running back Devontae Booker was only able to rush for 69 yards a week ago. One of these teams will take a step forward this week, and for it to be the Aggies the offense will need to take a major step forward. However, I expect a defensive battle Friday night.
