Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. is dealing with an index finger injury, something to watch for as the Ducks clash with the Spartans on primetime TV.

Oregon may have won their contest last Saturday against Eastern Washington 61-43, but they did not finish the game injury-free. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. left the game after getting knocked out in the fourth quarter, and now is also dealing with an injured index finger on his throwing hand per ESPN.com.

The injured finger was also reportedly suffered during the Eastern Washington contest.

Adams plans to ice the hand, according to the report and intends to play on Saturday night when the Ducks take on No. 5 Michigan State in what should be an exciting primetime matchup.

This will be the second game in as many years between the two teams, and in last year’s contest, the No. 3 Ducks beat the No. 7-ranked Spartans 41-28 in Eugene. Marcus Mariota had a tremendous game throwing for 318 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

In the defeat, Spartans’ quarterback Connor Cook performed well, passing for 343 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also threw two interceptions, which diminished Michigan State’s chances of winning the game.

It will be interesting to see if Adams’ performance on Saturday night will be affected due to the injured index finger. Furthermore, if the ball does not come out of his hand as crisply as it normally does, the receivers may have to make adjustments, also be something to watch for.

In my opinion, the injury should not affect the outcome of the game and the Ducks offense should be able to proceed as normal, as they look to claim a victory under the lights.
