College Football Rankings: Projected top 25 after Week 2
Projecting the top 25 poll after the second week of the college football season. Just how far will the Auburn Tigers fall?
The SEC made history in the top 25 polls after the opening week of the 2015 college football season with a record 10 teams in the poll, including all seven teams from the SEC West. However, that won’t happen again this week. Not after the No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks were upset by the unranked Toledo Rockets on Saturday from Little Rock.

While Arkansas is expected to tumble out of the top 25, the No. 6 Auburn Tigers may have the biggest slide of any team in the top 25 after they needed overtime and some good fortune to escape FCS foe Jacksonville State. They got the win, but they won’t be viewed as one of the six best teams in the country.
Further, No. 23 Tennessee lost in heartbreaking fashion to No. 19 Oklahoma after blowing a 17-point lead, the largest blown lead at home in Tennessee football history. And No. 25 Mississippi State fell behind No. 14 LSU in the first quarter and couldn’t overcome that deficit as they were the third ranked team from the SEC to lose.
There was football played outside the SEC this weekend, no matter what ESPN or the SEC Network would like you to believe. The No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes cruised to a win against Hawaii and the rest of the top four, Alabama, TCU and Baylor barely broke a sweat in their wins.
The biggest game of the week was between No. 5 Michigan State and No. 7 Oregon in a rematch of last year’s game won by the Ducks in Eugene, Oregon last year, but it was the Spartans getting some revenge with a 31-28 win. But I don’t think it’ll hurt them much in this week’s poll.
So let’s take a look at what the top 25 could look like come Sunday morning.
