Duke’s David Cutcliffe sends classy note to injured Pitt RB James Conner
Duke Blue Devils head coach David Cutcliffe proved again that he’s one of the most genuine men in coaching today.
David Cutcliffe is one of the true gentlemen in college football and one of the best teachers and coaches in college football as well so it came as no surprise to see this latest bit of news involving the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils.
Cutcliffe sent a note to Pittsburgh running back James Conner who is out for the season with a MCL injury and the reigning ACC Player of the Year shared a picture of the note he received from the coach of a rival team to show sportsmanship is still alive and well.
How classy is that by Cutcliffe?!
I’ve seen Kansas State head coach and Hall of Famer Bill Snyder send handwritten notes to players on teams his team has faced and even to players his team hasn’t played to wish people well after suffering an injury.
But I haven’t seen many others follow that example so to see Cutcliffe take a few moments out of his day when he could have been watching film or any other number of activities a head football coach has on his to do list and send a note to a player on a division rival.
I’m sure there are other coaches who have done it, and kudos to them, but what an example of pure class and human decency by Cutcliffe to show what sportsmanship is all about.
