Boston College put up a fight but Florida State’s defense led the Seminoles to a shutout win on the road.

Florida State picked up their first road shutout since November of 2003 when they won at Notre Dame in the 14-0 win at Boston College. The Seminoles didn’t have much success moving the ball against the Eagles defense that limited Everett Golson to 119 yards and one touchdown and Dalvin Cook to 54 yards rushing.

Florida State’s defense bailed out the offense when Terrence Smith forced a Jon Hilliman fumble that Jalen Ramsey recovered for a 36-yard touchdown to make it 14-0 to end any chance of an upset.

For much of the game the team’s two punters were the stars of the game with FSU punter Cason Beatty averaging 52.3 yards on seven punts, including four inside the 20. Alex Howell has a 47.9 average on seven punts with two touchbacks and one inside the 20.

Besides the punters being the stars of the game for the first three quarters, it was Golson laying the biggest block of the game with a block that would knock out the Eagles defender.

There weren’t many highlights for Florida State tonight, but on a night when the defense was dominant, allowing five completions for 56 yards and knocked out Eagles QB Darius Wade late in the game. Steve Addazio had no answer for a stifling Seminoles unit. Smith and Ramsey are two of the best players in the nation at their position and they proved that tonight.
