After two weeks of games against weak competition and throwing for less than 142 yards per game, Georgia starting quarterback Greyson Lambert was starting to feel the pressure of what it’s like to play for a top 10 football team.

The questions swirled around Georgia all week leading up to the game with South Carolina about whether or not Lambert was the guy to lead the Bulldogs, and if Brice Ramsey should be starting instead.

Head coach Mark Richt — in typical Mark Richt fashion — was calm and unwavering in his support of the former UVA transfer, and wasn’t going to push the panic button following two wins to open the season. Good thing he didn’t.

Lambert responded to the critics by going 24 for 25 and setting an FBS record for completion percentage, breaking a school record for consecutive completions (20), and leading to the Bulldogs to a 52-20 romp of Steve Spurrier’s Gamecocks.

Richt’s first comment at the post-game presser –

“I can’t believe he threw an incompletion,” Richt said via the AJC. “I was disappointed in that. But we’ll forgive him.”
