How Georgia Tech recovers from Notre Dame loss vs. Duke
By Tommy Tabler
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have been one of the most consistent college football teams in the country so after losing to Notre Dame can they right the ship against Duke?
Making a trip to South Bend to play Notre Dame is always a difficult proposition, whether they are starting a new quarterback or not. Things went south rather quickly for Georgia Tech in South Bend, although they did manage to make a game of it toward the end of the game. Notre Dame was able to get the offense clicking and put the Yellow Jackets down 30-7. The Yellow Jackets’ defense has become a concern over the past few games.

Georgia Tech will have to find a way to plug up a run defense that gave up three touchdowns and 198 yards to reserve running back C.J. Prosise. Making matters worse is he injuries are starting to mount for the Yellow Jackets who saw multiple players leave Saturday with injuries, including running back Qua Searcy who is expected to miss an extended period of time. Georgia Tech is going to need players on both the offensive and the defensive side of the ball to step up this week.
The Duke Blue Devils are coming off a difficult loss to Northwestern on Saturday. Duke was impressive in wins over Tulane and North Carolina Central but had struggles on the offensive side of the ball against the Northwestern Wildcats. The Duke passing game was held to 157 yards through the air. Both Duke and Georgia Tech are going to be looking for answers this weekend on the offensive side of the ball.
Georgia Tech is looking to win the ACC Coastal for a second year in a row and gaining a victory over an improved Duke team could be a big step in that direction. Both Duke and Georgia Tech are looking to gain an advantage in a division with Miami and Virginia Tech so if Tech can get the defense to step and quit giving up big plays in the running game then this should be a game the Yellow Jackets control.
