The Contenders

4. Michigan (3-1)

Don’t look now, but Michigan is playing the best football in the Big Ten. The Wolverines crushed BYU 31-0. Consider that the Cougars beat Boise State and Nebraska and only lost to UCLA 24-23 at the Rose Bowl. The Bruins just demolished Arizona. Connect the dots. It was Michigan’s just second win over a ranked team in 11 games. Yes, this win was truly impressive.

Dig deeper and it gets even more impressive. The Wolverines held BYU to just 50 yards passing and 55 yards rushing. Yes, that’s right. UM gave up 105 yards of total offense. Even during garbage time they didn’t give up ground.

Michigan’s lone loss was at Utah 24-17 in the opener. The Utes just annihilated Oregon. They are legit. Michigan’s resume gets more impressive by the week.
