12. Rutgers (2-2)
It doesn’t matter that it was Kansas. It doesn’t matter that the Jayhawks have lost 34 straight road games. It doesn’t matter that Rutgers only won 27-14 and everyone else kills KU. Rutgers won.
What else can happen to this team? The coach and its best wide receiver are suspended. Six other players got kicked off the team. It’s defensive captain is out for the season injured.
If nothing else, Rutgers has a group of productive running backs. Josh Hicks, Ron Martin and Paul James pounded the Jayhawks for 312 yards on the ground. The defense, however, held KU to 64 yards rushing.
The Scarlet Knights and interim head coach Norries Wilson gets a bye week to enjoy its second win or realize it should have won all three of its weak non-conference games. Army awaits down the road.
