This a tremendous gesture for a state that is grieving after the horrific events that occurred yesterday. As you may recall, Ohio State and Virginia Tech did something similar for their Monday primetime opener back on September 7 in a game that saw the Buckeyes come back after a slow start to romp the Hokies by a 42-24 margin.
It is nice to see teams do things like this as it reminds us that life is bigger than football. Sometimes, it is easy to forget that, especially as trophy races become tighter, the games become more intense, and the stakes get higher.
The 2-2 Ducks will take on an upstart Colorado program that comes into the contest with a 3-1 mark. The Beavers, who also come into the game with a 2-2 mark will face an Arizona Wildcat team that is looking to rebound after a 56-30 loss at home at the hands of the UCLA Bruins last Saturday.
However, in the grand scheme of things, the matchups are secondary to what took place Thursday. Both programs recognize this and will go into their games with a little extra motivation to help a grieving state.
The Oregon-Colorado game will be featured on ESPN, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. The Oregon State-Arizona contest will start at 1 p.m. and can be seen on Fox Sports 1.
