Chad Kelly ties Ole Miss record for 300-yard games in a season

Chad Kelly tied a school record for most 300-yard games in a season, tying former Ole Miss quarterbacks Eli Manning and Bo Wallace.

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback got back on track after a down game last week against the Florida Gators and put his name in the record books along Rebel great Eli Manning with his fourth game with at least 300 passing yards in the win against New Mexico State. His record-tying performance came with his uncle and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly in attendance.

In fact, Kelly tied the mark in the first-half throwing for 301 yards versus the Aggies. Of the four 300-yard performances Kelly has this year, two have come against SEC foes, including a then-No. 2 Alabama team and Vanderbilt.

Against Alabama Kelly threw for 341 yards, three touchdowns and averaged 10.3 yards per attempt against the second best defense in the SEC that has held opponents to a total of 1,300 offensive yards this season including a very successful running team in the Georgia Bulldogs.

Kelly’s best performance, until today, this season came against Fresno State when he racked up 346 passing yards, averaging 13.8 yards per attempt, and four touchdowns.

Needless to say, Kelly should break the record with games against Memphis, Texas A&M, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU and Mississippi State left on the schedule. The most likely games for the record to be broken in will be against Auburn and Memphis. With the way Auburn has played of late I would put my money on them but the Memphis game is just as likely.
