Leonard Fournette had himself another day, widening the gap as the LSU Tigers sophomore tailback knows the Heisman Trophy is his to lose.

When it comes to the Heisman race, there’s Leonard Fournette, and then there’s the field. There are a few on his tail, but outside the top five, there’s no one even close.

There was a lot of movement this week, primarily due to some losses, as well as some standouts who have performed consistently all season long.

USC’s Cody Kessler and Cal’s Jared Goff fell out of this week’s Heisman watch, due to losses. With two losses on USC’s belt, it’s hard to imagine Cody Kessler having any chance at the Heisman. And although Goff has performed at such a high level all season long, his five interceptions in one game isn’t going to look pretty in the stat column. With a meh performance, we’ll see how he responds in Week 7. With guys like Deshaun Watson and Baker Mayfield barely clinging on, along with Nick Chubb’s injury, there’s a good chance Goff could find himself back in the race.

We saw a few Heisman hopefuls lose, including Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield Unfortunately, we saw Georgia’s All-American running back Nick Chubb go down with a gruesome injury, which ended in a Bulldog loss. A serious injury could not only hurt Chubb’s shot at the Heisman, but drop his draft stock as well.

Trevone Boykin had some last-minute heroics to keep the Horned Frogs undefeated. Guys like Derrick Henry, Deshaun Watson, and Ezekiel Elliot had themselves average days by their standard. Not exactly a breakout performance, but enough to get the job done and move onto the next one.

Now, we’re also seeing another Heisman hopeful crack the list in Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly. Despite an early loss in SEC play to the Florida Gators, he’s been a force for the Rebel offense. And Dalvin Cook’s consistent play thus far has also landed him on the list, with a lot of potential to move up.
