On Wednesday, 2016 four-star defensive end Khalid Kareem decommitted from Alabama.

A former Crimson Tide commit is a commit no more. On Wednesday, four-star 2016 defensive end Khalid Kareem (Harrison. Farmington MI)  decommitted from Alabama. Kareem is the No. 194 player in the ’16 class, No. 9 strong-side defensive end, and the No. 6 overall player from the state of Michigan per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Notching 37 offers in total, he was recruited to the Tide by special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Bobby Williams, who served as the primary recruiter as well as outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi, who handled the duties of secondary recruiter.

He committed to the program on June 24 but it seems he was far from set with his commitment. On September 12, he took a visit to Michigan State before visiting the Tide again on September 19. It is worth noting that he is set to visit Notre Dame on Saturday, and it seems he is comfortable with continuing to explore his options in the recruiting process.

The Tide’s 2016 class is still strong with nine four-star commitments and 17 overall, ranking No. 6 in the country and No 3 in the SEC per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Michigan appears to be the favorite for Kareem’s services as noted by Hank South of 247Sports and a commitment to Michigan would give the Wolverines an instant playmaker. Measuring at 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, Kareem would give the program a disruptive force on the defensive line.

For now though, his recruitment is wide open and you can bet that with the level of talent he possesses, he is on the radar of several programs.
