Florida at LSU Prediction

With a 6-0 record and a No. 8 national ranking, Florida has been on a magical run to start the Jim McElwain era. The Gators are in complete control of the SEC East, and if they can pull off an upset in Baton Rouge, Florida will have the division title and a spot in the SEC Championship Game all but wrapped up.

However, beating LSU on a Saturday night in Death Valley is a difficult enough task, and because the Gators must turn to a backup quarterback that has attempted just two passes in four weeks and the defense must somehow stop the best player in the nation, and the odds seem insurmountable.

Of course, Florida has surprised us all season. Because of Treon Harris’ talent and experience, there is no reason to panic that the Gators will fall apart on offense without Will Grier, and the defense has been the catalyst to the team’s strong start anyway.

Sure, Leonard Fournette is off to an unbelievable start to the season, but Syracuse, Eastern Michigan and South Carolina don’t come close to the size and speed Florida offers on defense. And even if Fournette has a big game, the Tigers will likely need quarterback Brandon Harris to step up and make a few plays – which is something we haven’t seen very much of so far.

But perhaps we’re over thinking it. With a backup quarterback under center for Florida and a crazy Saturday night crowd at Tiger Stadium behind the Tigers, expect a hard-fought, low-scoring game to result in a narrow LSU victory.
