Boise State has won their last several games convincingly, but opportunities are arising for another team to top this list. If Memphis can pull out a win this week, they’ll be the ones to do it.

Out of the top 10 quarterbacks with the best quarterback rating in the nation, four hail from the Group of Five, and eight rank in the top 20. Aside from quarterbacks, a number of position players are making their marks as well. Group of Five players are racking up sacks, with three players in the top 10.

And they’re faring well when it comes to picking off quarterbacks, the Group of Five dominates, where six players make up the top 10.

More from American

These are some telling stats, and most of them tell the stories about their respective teams. Four teams in total from the Group of Five remain undefeated, but several other teams are among the strongest. Many analysts in the nation have Boise State as the top team of this group, but given their weaker remaining schedule, they could fall if other teams have impressive wins.

Three of the four undefeated teams come from the American Athletic Conference, meaning there will be two undefeated teams at most that the Group of Five will produce. Toledo, from the MAC, has the highest chance of winning its remaining games. It’s only halfway through the season, so a lot can still happen within the rankings.
