Looking ahead to Week 7 of the 2015 college football season, several ranked and favored teams face tough tests. What five squads should be on upset alert?

It’s been an interesting week in college football to say the least. The Head Ball Coach Steve Spurrier resigned as head coach of South Carolina. Steve Sarkisian gets fired at USC. Maryland decides to move on from Randy Edsall and the Florida Gators took a huge blow losing their quarterback Will Grier to suspension after testing positive to a performance-enhancing substance.

Should the drama on the field match that of what took place this week off the field, we are in for a real treat on Saturday. Not only are we smack dab in the middle of the college football season, there are many marquee games that take place this weekend. So many in fact, that it was hard to choose which five games are worthy of being called an upset.

The following games didn’t make the list as it’s easy to see both teams coming up with the victory. Iowa at Northwestern, Alabama at Texas A&M, Oklahoma at Kansas State, Florida at LSU, USC at Notre Dame, and of course Michigan State at Michigan. Whether it’s a rivalry or conference foe, the spreads were low and rightfully so. (Yes, I realize that rhymes) These should be some close hard-fought games where we, the viewers, are the real winners.

Last week belonged to Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns with their victory over Oklahoma in the Red River Classic that no one saw coming. The other upset came earlier in the week when the Washington Huskies went into Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on a Thursday night and took down USC led by both team’s former coach Steve Sarkisian.

Thus is the beauty of college football. You can’t write this stuff. The highs and lows, the unexpected, the pageantry, and of course you the fans are what make this sport so great. Now let’s get down to business and find out what teams should be ready to bring their A game this weekend to avoid the upset.
