Ole Miss should be on upset alert against Memphis
The Ole Miss Rebels better be careful about overlooking Justin Fuente and his undefeated Memphis Tigers team on Saturday or they could be upset.

Saturday is like a buffet of good food. There are so many good dishes that some of the food may not get eaten like it should. We have Alabama heading to College Station to take on Texas A&M. LSU hosts Florida for a night game in Death Valley. Outside the conference, Michigan hosts Michigan State. There is also the traditionally stellar matchup between USC and Notre Dame.
There are other matchups that will also be entertaining, but one in particular occurs right after College Gameday ends at 12 PM ET. Let’s be honest, the early slate of games is usually less than stellar, but this week we get Ole Miss in a road game against Memphis.
I know what you are thinking. Memphis!? This is not the Memphis of yesteryear that was consistently a dumpster fire of a team. The Tigers had a solid 10-3 season in 2014 and are off to a hot 5-0 start this season. A big reason for the newfound success is head coach Justin Fuente. As coaching firing season has already begun, you will begin seeing Fuente’s name associated with head coaching vacancies at major programs. Fuente was previously the offensive coordinator at TCU.
Just two weeks removed from Ole Miss’s dismal performance in Gainesville, it should go without saying that Memphis should be taken seriously. It’s a road game with a 11 AM local time kick and all the makings of a major program sleep walking into this game. Is Memphis as talented at Ole Miss? No, but they have enough talent to beat Ole Miss if the Rebels don’t bring their best game.
The Tigers are led by quarterback Paxton Lynch. Lynch has already thrown for 1,535 yards and 10 touchdowns without an interception. Lynch against the Ole Miss defense poses a great matchup to watch on Saturday afternoon.
Ole Miss has the ability to take advantage of a Memphis defense that gives up a lot of points. Ultimately, Ole Miss should win this one, but don’t be surprised to see this game close in the fourth quarter.
