Bold words coming from a head coach who has one Pac-12 win in three years.

It’s Homecoming for the Colorado Buffaloes, and they’re hosting the 4-2 Arizona Wildcats tonight. Last night, at the annual Homecoming pep rally for Colorado, head coach Mike MacIntyre had some bold words for his fans that were in attendance, guaranteeing a win vs. Arizona, via Alex Burness.

Colorado has only beaten Arizona once since joining the Pac-12, but have lost each of the last three years. Each loss was by a margin of 18+ points, with Arizona scoring 38+ in all three games as well.

MacIntyre doesn’t have much to lose here. This could realistically be his final year in Boulder, so why not spew out words of madness. Although, his Buffaloes do have a fair shot to beat Arizona. This is probably MacIntyre’s most competitive team that he’s had during his time at Colorado, and Arizona isn’t that great of a team, especially compared to each of the last three season.

I would expect Arizona to win this one by about three possessions, but Colorado can definitely make this game and give the Wildcats a scare. The key to the game will be Arizona’s running game. If they can get Nick Wilson and Orlando Bradford involved early, and score fast, Arizona will be in control.

If Colorado can score early, which happened last year, after scoring on the first play of the game, then Arizona could be in trouble. Sefo Liufau and Nelson Spruce are a dangerous combination, and the Arizona secondary is prone to giving up big plays.
